Convenors Needed


The following volunteer board positions will be open effective March 2023.
There is a 1-year term commitment. Please consider supporting your community club.

The club employs a General Manager and various other positions integral to club operations. Gateway is a run by a volunteer Board of Directors with long standing members. The board consists of a President, Past President, Secretary/Treasurer, Vice President Administration, Volunteer Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator and 7 convenor positions. Without volunteers, sports programming and events do not happen.

Outdoor Soccer Convenor (U4-U6)
The Outdoor Soccer Convenor is responsible for the organizing and implementation of the outdoor soccer season, which runs from May thru the end of June. This includes recruitment of parent coaches, organization of coach certification, team creation, creation of a league schedule, and regular email communication with all parents and coaches. Duties also include liaising with Gateway Equipment Manager and Phoenix Technical Staff. The position is supported by Gateway staff and board. Mentorship and support will come from the past convenor.

March (mid)-April (end)- 10-15 hours/week
May-June- 1-2 hours/week

Special Events Convenor
The Special Events Convenor is responsible for organizing and leading various events during the year which include the Gateway Summer and Winter Carnival, Skate with Santa, Annual Craft sale. There is also an opportunity to be creative and develop other events should the convenor be interested. The position is supported by Gateway staff as well as board members and past holders of the position.

Varies depending on the time of year and event with zero some months to 8-15 hours during event months.
